Let’s face it, getting the perfect, natural nude lip going isn’t always this easy:
You may even be thinking, “Ahhh how hard could it be?!” I’m not here to tell you it’s super hard or anything. BUT it doesn’t hurt to get a little technique down. So, you can perfect it and totally ROCK it.
So, how can you make a BOLD statement in a subtle way?
For starters, let’s look at your lips before applying any type of lip liner or lipstick. How do they feel? Are you in the midst of winter and are they a little chapped? Or is it summer time & maybe you were in the sun a little too long? A lot of our habits can lead to lip dryness, soreness, and irritation. Our lips are sensitive beings and NEED to be treated with much love. When it comes to our lips, we’re our own worst enemy. It’s only appropriate to learn to take care of those kissing tools of yours!
Here are some helpful tips:
Keep those lips moist! One of my favorite products is from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics: Hydrating Lip Crème SPF-15. “Perfect for wearing alone or layering, our luxurious lip treatment works on contact; with a combination of Jojoba, Sunflower and Avocado oils, it helps heal dryness and soften roughness, while a built-in SPF 15 helps keep lips protected from harmful UVA and UVB rays. In an instant, lips are smoothed, protected and revitalized.”
Exfoliate! Your lip balm will perform even better if you’ve successfully exfoliated those smoochers before-hand! To find the BEST lip scrub for you, check out this article from IntoTheGloss.com: “The Best Lip Scrubs.”
Plump Those Lips! Try some Peppermint oil. It irritates lips enough to cause slight swelling and adds a temporary flush of color without causing serious harm OR apply highlighter to the cupid’s bow of your lips and a shimmering balm to the center of your bottom lip. Mentioned in a previous blog, the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics: Mineral Radiance will do just the trick for making your cupid’s bow stand out…in a kissable way! 😉
Exfoliate & Plump at the same time! Exfoliating with a mixture of brown sugar and coconut oil will increase circulation to your lips, naturally increasing their volume while giving lips a rosy glow. Not to mention, the smell is amazing!
Now your lips are ready for some color.

HOW TO DO THE PERFECT NUDE LIP –
Start with outlining your lips. This may sound like the tricky part, but it really is just a matter of precision. The more you practice, the better you’ll be. Pick the perfect your-lips-but-better-color and get to work. My go-to shade is Youngblood Lip Liner Pencil in Pout. If you have small lips and have the urge to over-line them to make them appear bigger…DON’T! Major makeup fowl. Another secret to making them appear bigger is adding a tad bit of extra bronzer to the top and bottom of your lips. So, before adding your instant highlight, swipe a good cool-toned bronzer on first! Then, swipe some on your chin right below your lip.
Now the fun part! When it comes to actually applying your lipstick, you want to start from the outside and work inwards. Be sure to really get the insides of the sides of your mouth, so that way they’re not bare when you’re laughing really hard at a joke your girlfriend just made when you’re at your fave spot downtown. DEF don’t want that!! To stay with the Youngblood family, Honey Nut goes really well with Pout Lip Liner. I mean, just look at it…it’s beautiful! –>
Tip: After applying your lipstick, go back in with a tad bit of concealer with a flat brush and outline the lip liner. It sharpens the line and makes your lips stand out even more!

Curly hair is one of the most interesting things to many hair professionals. There are so many curl patterns and textures, and no two are the same. Having curly hair is one thing that you should be proud of. As much fun and versatility that they have, it isn’t going to help if you can’t care for them properly. Here are a few curly hair hacks that will help you out!
As tempting as it can be to apply conditioner in your hands and rake it through your hair, that is not the best way to apply conditioner to your curly hair. Instead, you should instead press and smooth it into your hair. You should squeeze the conditioner into your hair especially from the middle of your hair to the end. Then take a wide toothed comb in order to detangle your hair by holding your hair at the root and detangling from the ends to the roots. Curly hair doesn’t have a smooth cuticle, so you have to make sure that you are careful. Once you’re done then you should rinse your hair with cool water in order to close the hair cuticle and lock in the moisture.
If your hair has a hard time taking a wave shape, then you can try a twist and twirl method. When your hair is wet after washing, you can twist your hair away from your face. Then apply a light gel that wont stiffen your hair in order to help eliminate frizz and help out with the definition of your hair.
Scrunching your hair in order to get your perfect curls is the most popular and easiest way to complete a wash and go. Your scrunching should separate your curls into their perfect ringlets. In order to make sure this is done, you should cup your hand at the ends of your hair and push your curls towards your scalp. After you do that then let your hand go. Make sure you are going in sections so that your curls get an equal amount of scrunching.
A lot of curly girls have different ways of drying their hair. Some use regular bathing terry towels, some use old t-shirts, others use microfiber towels. One thing you should immediately stop doing is using terry towels for drying your hair. This is the easiest way to ruin your natural curls definition. Microfiber towels and cotton t-shirts are the best way to make sure your hair is protected.
A popular curly hair technique is called pineappling. Pineappling is one of the easiest ways to protect your curls over night when you are in between washes. Grab a loose hair tie and pull all of your hair up to the top of your head. You want your hair as close to your hair line as possible, but make sure you don’t tie the hair tie too tight. You don’t want to cause any breakage or discomfort. After you are done with that grab a satin pillowcase and go to sleep. Any curly girl should avoid using a cotton pillowcase, because cotton absorbs your natural oils and moisture from your hair as you sleep, leaving your hair a mess in the morning.
The only rule that girls with curly hair should have to follow is to always take care of your hair. You don’t want your curls to become unruly, tangled and damaged because you aren’t exactly sure of how to take care of them. We hope these few tips will start you on your healthy curly hair journey.

Prom 2016 is right around the corner! And if you’re in high school (or you have a high schooler), you’re probably close to freak out mode right now!
I remember back in my high school days, I absolutely LOVED prom dress shopping! I pre-ordered a light pink, Cinderella ball gown (my mom was all for it) about 5 months before prom. Well, on the day I went to try it on and take it home, my heart just wasn’t feeling the dress anymore. Mom was soooo upset, but the dress just wasn’t me! So we used the payment we made towards that dress, and ordered a new one. A bright, hot melon/pink colored mermaid dress that had some Spanish sass to it!
I was SO excited.
The day came when we had to go pick up that gown, and jaws dropped. I knew it was the one.
Now, this doesn’t always happen to everyone. And for the picky ladies out there, I know this process can be a little excruciating because you want everything to be PERFECT!
GOOD NEWS. I am here to help! Right here in Dayton, we have THE largest prom dress store in Southern Ohio: Pure Couture Prom! And here at Creative Images, we can help you with your hair style and makeup for the night!
First off, let’s go dress shopping!
The first dress I’ve picked out is from Sherri Hill. She ALWAYS has the best prom styles. You KNOW you’re getting a quality dress when you buy Sherri Hill. Period. Point. Blank.
In the picture, you see Style 50261! Pure Couture has it in the shop RIGHT NOW!!
You’ll definitely want to put your hair in an up-do for this dress, since it has an open back!
If you have shorter hair like the model in the picture, maybe you can add a braid or some other detail, along with big curls to add something special to the overall look. I would keep the hair very natural and soft with this particular dress.
As for makeup, I would shoot for the same concept. This gown is very sweet and light, so go for something a little understated, bronzey and gorgeous!

So, there’s one option for the sweet and sassy girl. Now you want to see what else I have for you!
Get ready for this one ladies – we’ve got a SHOWSTOPPING one-of-a-kind dress from Rachel Allan! You can find this dress here & order online today!
With this crazy dress, you can definitely GO BOLD with your eye makeup. Don’t be afraid to pull out the black eye shadow. I know a lot of girls stray away from the black.
If you’re a little weary about it, but still want to give it a try, give us a call! We LOOOVE doing makeup and we would be happy to show you how beautiful you can look on your very special night. Come in for a preview, then schedule an appointment earlier on prom day so we can recreate the look you love!
To the upper right is an example of a great eye that would go wonderful with our favorite Rachel Allan prom 2016 dress! We LOVE this cut crease look by MAKEUPBY_EV21. If you’re not up for fake eyelashes, be sure to use a lengthening and voluminizing mascara. Tip: double up on mascaras to achieve your desired look 😉
Next up, I’ve got another favorite from Pure Couture Prom. Faviana has some amazing styles for Prom 2016 this year. The one I have featured on the left is just one of the many gowns that I’m totally in love with. I mean, the color and the cut of this dress is just impeccable!
When it comes to hair for this beauty, I would shoot for a braided updo. Yes, the dress is pretty simple, but here is so much happening at the top. You definitely will want your audience to see the awesomeness of your Faviana prom dress.
For the eyes, let’s go for a smoky look with lots of GLITTER! You can find tutorials all over Pinterest for this (follow our board – Prom Ready).
Watch Mayra’s tutorial below and other similar makeup videos here.
You can also dress this Faviana gown up a tad bit more (if you WANT!) with some bling bling. Get some dangly, silver earrings, a few silver, blingy bracelets & some stunner silver pumps!
OR you can keep the simple vibe of the dress by going nude with everything. Nude heels, nude makeup and nude/gold jewelry. Either way, you’ll be sure to turn heads this year!
The last beautiful prom dress I’d like to share with you is from none-other than Jovani Fashions! Style 21899 comes in all different colors and is sure to be the life of the party!
Visit Pure Couture Prom soon to make sure you get your hands on these awesome dresses!! They also make sure that you don’t buy the same dress as another girl from your high school! How awesome?! One less thing to worry about!
Ishtar Earrings- BHLDN
You can definitely jazz these dresses up with lots of jewelry and sparkles! These earrings will add that extra wow factor! Snatch them up here.
Just like the ladies in the photo, you can let your gorgeous locks fall with big curls in this dress. And don’t worry, short haired ladies, your bob will also bring out the fun side of this dress with your entire back out!
I think another cool hair style for this dress would be a long, fish tail braid with a little bling in it! Wouldn’t that be awesome!?
Whew, putting this blog together really makes me want to go back to high school and dance the night away!! LOL.
With all of these ideas, it’s time to start checking things off that to-do list! Don’t forget to check out our Instagram (@creativeimagesschool) for more pix on prom hairstyles and nail ideas!
It’s mid-winter and we’re all dreaming of warmer weather, sunshine, and flowers. We also have to get up super early in the morning from our warm, cozy bed to go out into the frigid cold! NO THANK YOU!
So how the heck are we supposed to look the slightest bit presentable at work or school when we obviously do not want to be awake?! Sometimes, it’s hard being a lady. I don’t know about you, but my norm is usually 5-10 minutes late…which probably isn’t a good habit to be in. But with getting dressed, doing my hair AND doing my makeup, it’s bound to take me 30 minutes or more (depending on my bed head & circles under my eyes LOL).
What if I told you there IS a way to get ready in 10 minutes. Yes, you heard me right. 10, JUST 10 MINUTES!
Interested? Cool…..so let me give you some of my speedy morning routine tips so you can get a routine of your own!
GET DRESSED IN 2 MINUTES. Have you guys ever heard of a capsule closet? Here’s a quick definition:
“Capsule wardrobe” is a term coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called “Wardrobe” in the 1970s. According to Faux, a capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and coats, which can then be augmented with seasonal pieces.”
Get it together, ladies. I promise this will change your life. Throw on a shirt, trousers, and jacket with your favorite comfy shoes and you’re set! For some cute examples of what you should put in this capsule closet of yours, check out this article: “How to Create a Capsule Wardrobe.“
2. DO YOUR HAIR IN LIKE 3 MINUTES! This sounds insane, but it really is doable, I PROMISE! I usually have to brush through my morning hair with some water and a brush….just to tame it a bit and get rid of that bed head! You could also use some dry shampoo to keep the soft, non-greasy look going!
Still looking rough? No worries! Here’s an AWESOME video showing you how to do my favorite 3 minute, SUPER EASY, SUPER CUTE up-do by MissAlex!
Okay, you’re dressed and your hair’s done….and it’s only been 5 minutes! So, that means we have 5 MINUTES LEFT!!!!
3. Let’s get to that face, shall we?! Yes, you CAN put on moisturizer, foundation, blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, brow liner, and lipstick in 5 minutes flat. Now, this takes practice. You have to find what works for you. What do you need to spend more time on and what can you do in 10 seconds? “The key is to create a routine that works for you, and to achieve consistency with your look everyday,” says Daisy from simplicityrelished.com.
You can still have consistency if you switch out an eye or lip color every once in a while to keep things interesting!
The key to the quickness is finding products that actually WORK and work fast….
Find a good moisturizer with sun protection to use as a base. Then put on your favorite foundation. I’m a HUGE supporter of mineral foundations because they are good for your skin while still working as a perfecter! Our favorite foundation is from YoungBlood Mineral Cosmetics: Hi-Definition Mineral Perfecter. “Whether skin is under the HD spotlight or regular daylight, this innovative, multi-tasking formula keeps skin hydrated and balanced by locking in moisture while naturally absorbing excess oil and mattifying shine – even in high humidity. The result is makeup that looks fresh for hours and a hydrated feel, all day.” Come on into one of our salons to order this LIFE CHANGING product!!
After I put my foundation on, I quickly highlight & define. I can’t get enough of the Mineral Radianceproducts from YoungBlood. My favorite palette is Sundance: a multi-dimensional bronzer containing four shades. I use all of these together for a soft, peachy glow! The GREATEST thing about this product is that you can use each shade separately for bronzing, contouring, or highlighting; another trick for fighting the clock!
OMG, WAIT FOR IT…….you can also choose a shade to use as an EYE SHADOW!!! This is totally going to shave off some time in your morning routine. And the other awesome thing is, these are MINERAL products, so your skin actually thanks you for applying it!
Eyeliner time. We love They’re Real! Push-Up Liner by Benefit – my advice…keep it super simple. I only put eyeliner on the top of my eye for a more natural look. This literally takes 30 seconds AT THE MOST!
I also love Benefit’s mascara! It give your lashes volume and length (FOR REAL, NOT KIDDING) >>>>>
Don’t judge me in that picture….except my lashes look gaaahreat! (and it looks like my Starbucks says “Yogan” instead of “Logan” lol)
To wrap up your quick look, throw on some natural tinted lip color. Stick it in your purse so you can re-apply after coffee and lunch. You’ll need to stay fly all day long! ***I am a lover of anything matte***
OKAY OKAY NOW IT’S TIME FOR YOU TO PRACTICE!! You probably already have all of your favorite makeup products, but if you want to try any of my favorites, send us a message on social media OR come into the salon to ask us about it!

A red lip is something that will never go out of style. Red lips have and I can guarantee will always be a classic. Even though it can be very intimidating to someone who doesn’t wear very bright or bold makeup, it really is a matter of practice and patience. Once you get this under your belt you’ll be wearing it all year round to special events, nights out or anywhere else you can think of.
The Do’s and Don’ts of Red Lipstick
Do Exfoliate- The first thing you should do before you start your red lip is you definitely need to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before you get started with your face makeup. It will help the lipstick to glide on a lot smoother as well as giving you an even application. Nothing is worse than trying to put red lipstick on dry and cracked lips.
Do Line Your Lips First- Before you apply your lipstick, you will need to apply a lip liner in order to keep your lipstick from bleeding all over the place. This will also act as an easy way to make sure that you stay in the lines of your lips. If you want an even more professional look, then use a little bit of concealer in your shade or your foundation to better clean up any small mistakes you might have made.
Do remove any extra lipstick- If you want to make sure that you don’t have red lipstick all over your face or teeth, then you should probably remove any excess lipstick on your lips. You can use a tissue and gently blot to get rid of the excess. Another easy way is to put your index finger in your mouth and pull it out quickly.
Don’t go crazy with gloss- If you are wearing a red lip, you should probably stray away from the lip gloss. By putting lip gloss on top of lipstick, then it will make the color prone to smearing in a very unattractive fashion. If you don’t want a completely matte lipstick, then you should go with a more satin formula or adding a very small amount of lipstick in the center of your lips. With you talking and pursing your lips it will gradually move to the rest of your lips without smearing. This will also make your lips look fuller.
Don’t wear with bright colors- When wearing red lipstick, you should try to keep the rest of your makeup to a minimum or neutral color palette. This doesn’t mean not wearing any other makeup at all, but it does mean that colors such as blues, greens, and pinks should be saved for another day. You don’t want any colors that will clash with the vibrancy and drama of the red.
Red lipstick isn’t just for Valentine’s Day, and is one of the most classing lip colors you could ever wear. A red lip can be work anywhere and will go with any type of event from a nice date, work meeting or dinner with the girls. All you need is your perfect shade and a little knowledge of the basics and most importantly, have fun!
Also, here’s a great “How To” video from Shaaanxo on the perfect red lip! Enjoy (: xoxo
