About half of all women that visit a salon go at least once a month to change up their look. If you are need of some inspiration for the new year, keep on reading for hair trends to keep an eye out for in 2017.
A low ponytail
Both classy and low key, the low ponytail is an easy look for a day at the office or a night out. You can wear it twisted, slicked back, or with a piece of hair wrapped around its base, but it looks best being a little disheveled and held simply with a black hair band.
The crimper is back, but not the over sized ones of the 1990s you may be used to. We mean crimping a few sections of the hair for easy texture and volume. Smart touches include crimping only the hair under your ears or the tail of your up-do.
The higher the bun, the closer you are to the hair gods
Ballerina buns are coming back with a vengeance, as beauty experts prove they can be chic no matter how they’re worn. The higher the bun the better, but for short-haired gals, feel free to have it sit in the middle of your head with a few wisps falling out.
No, we’re not talking about the bouffants and poofs of the early 2000s. Instead, think volume coming out from the sides of your head in the form of gorgeous curls. Embrace the frizz and go crazy with your backcomb.
The French pleat
You’ll bring a great Parisian vibe to any place you go when you rock this style. Held tightly in place and as versatile as a pony tail, this awesome style will have you feeling like you’re walking down the cobblestone streets of Paris in no time.
Say goodbye to those thin headbands that don’t do you any good, and say hello to thick, XXL headpieces. They can be adorned with feathers, jewels, and flowers — we dig them all.
The best thing about hair trends is that they are always changing! If you are interested in the world of beauty tips, don’t just change your hairstyle, consider a career in cosmetology. Beauty schools have many cosmetology classes that range with your interests, from nail classes to skin care programs.
Sir Winter has arrived and he brings along harsh winds, which are not-so favorable to our precious skin. Every time we go outside, our skin has to endure the drastic changes in temperature and humidity. So, what does a girl have to do? Thankfully, a lot. Start your battle against Winter with these tips you can follow to avoid flaky dry skin!
A lot of typical, cheap bar soaps can cause a drying effect on our skin, so it’s important to use them more considerately during winter. If you have moisturizer-soaps or oil-based soaps, then there’s nothing to worry about.
Avoid taking hot baths
It may seem natural that once you feel the cold outside, you want to just relax in a hot bath tub during the Winter night. Well, this is actually bad. Hot water strip away our body’s natural oils, leaving our skin dry and tight. What’s better is to shower on the right temperature, not too warm and not too cold. Think Goldilocks.
It’s important to moisturize your skin. The most literal way to do that? Relax in a tub of tepid water until you see your fingertips slightly wrinkled. Our skin naturally has a great capacity for keeping water. So, however long it takes, it’s important to get rehydrated!
Bring in the oil
With this season, it’s a good time to join the Flaxseed oil fad. Flaxseed oil products have wholesome Omega-3s which are good for you; they help keep the skin lithe (not lit, ok?). More so, they can reduce the pain of stiff joints caused by the Winter cold.
Use Ceramides once you need them
During the cold season, our skin can lose lipids which are essential to how our skin keeps water. How to get them back? We’ll have to turn to ceramides. Ceramide products contain the same balance of lipids as our skin does. In doing so, they help keep our skin moisturized. Studies show they help treat eczema, but it can also be used by anyone with dry skin.
Remember, Winter doesn’t have to mean flaky dry skin. Taking a few simple steps and choosing the right products can help you look your best all season long!

Restyle your hair

If you don’t want to change your hairstyle completely, you may add small touches to your current look such as bangs, highlights, and extensions. Even if they are just small changes, they can still give big improvements on your appearance.
Although not as bold as changing up your hair, new nail designs are still a little crazy but totally worth it! A tint for the season or a sparkly mauve on your hand might bring a smile to anyone catching a glimpse of it. Breakout something you’ve always wanted to try but never got to! On the week of Christmas, I decided to take the leap before the big day and apply for Cosmetology school.
Aside from having a passion for hair, makeup, and fashion, there are other things I know I will love in the cosmetology world.
Cosmetology is a hot job market right now, and it will take more than a thousand years for it to cool off. People will always have a need to look good & feel good, therefore a cosmetologist will always be needed.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics have projected that overall employment in the field of cosmetology will increase by 10% during 2014-2024, which is faster than the average of all other occupations.
The demand comes from the ever increasing population; so I know I will have job security & stability after graduation!
Nothing is more attractive to me than a profession that allows me to be free, creative and have fun! Cosmetology allows that and so much more! Once you receive your license and whether you be a barber, esthetician, hairstylist or any other, you get to make your own schedule. Full-time or part-time, dayshift or nightshift all depends on your preference.
This also comes into play during cosmetology school! Since I’m a full time mom, I decided to be a part time cosmetology student. Yes, it will take a little longer, but I can still spend time with my kids while also working on myself!
The variety of specializations is endless; you can be in waxing, hair styling, make up, skincare, management and so on. While in cosmetology school, Creative Images makes sure students go through different phases, with the last phase being working in their salon and making real clients beautiful! Real experience on real people!
I’ve been sort of prospecting Creative Images for a while now and by looking at their social media and reading up on the website, I can see that this is the right place for me. I know that when I start cosmetology school here, I will be joining a family. A group of men and women who genuinely care about my success. I also came across this video:
If you’re a creative person with a passion for style and glamour, want a career that’s stable and flexible, and a working environment that’s enjoyable and lets you socialize with people, LISTEN UP!!
With dedication and commitment, it’s a fast track to finish cosmetology school! It’s even possible to obtain a license within one year! If you’re looking to pursue a profession in cosmetology, check out our courses here at Creative Images!
Are you ready to change your life with a new, exciting career? APPLY TODAY
“On the 2nd week before Christmas, I’ve been feeling a bit stressed and down lately and am in need of a little inspiration. I’m a little lost on what I want to do for the rest of my live and I feel like my options are running out!”
If this sounds like you, believe me, your options are not running out. There are truly endless options for your career, and there are even endless options when it comes to a degree in cosmetology! See here.
At Creative Images, we have the most modern education because it is SO important to becoming an amazing cosmetologist. We make sure the students are well-prepared after graduation so they have a large clientele who will follow them to their new salon! It’s so great to be a part of something that nurtures student’s development as a person with goals in mind and that gives true experience rather than classes that don’t have anything to do with your degree!
Megan is a former student from Creative Images that is now a successful cosmetologist! Let’s see what she has to say!
Nothing beats learning when you’re having fun, and when you’re in a positive atmosphere every day, there’s no escaping the feeling of determination!
Check out what another former student, Amanda, says about her time here:
I don’t know about you, but if I was feeling down about my career before reading this, I definitely feel pumped with motivation now!
Seeing other people’s glowing commendations really tells a lot about a school, that is really more like a family. Creative Images is exactly that, a family that cares about you and wants you to succeed in your endeavors.
I hope these testimonials have helped you get back up on your feet for the holiday season!
