Creative Images Institute of Cosmetology An Education. A Passion. A Career. As Texas takes one of the biggest hits that it has seen in years, Creative Images Institute of Cosmetology has recently hosted a diaper drive in order to help provide support to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Throughout the month of September, we have been accepting donations in the forms of diapers, baby wipes, and any monetary contributions from our students and staff, as well as clients. Over the course of the past 30 days, Creative Images Institute of Cosmetology was able to collect nearly $100 in cash donations along with 6,500 diapers and 30 cases of baby wipes! One hundred percent of the donations were delivered to the Salvation Army to be transported down to the Red Cross support station in Houston, Texas. We are so grateful to everyone who made their donations!
CI Annual Networking Event Every year, Creative Images Institute of Cosmetology puts on their Annual Networking & Recruiting Event as a gateway for their artists to meet and interact with local salons and spas. This year has been the best one yet with nearly 100 hundred artists in attendance and over 130 industry professionals representing nearly 200 salons and spas! This event was designed to give the student artists the opportunity to meet with the salon /spa of their dreams while also being able to show off their creativity between portfolios, design contests, and a runway show. For the first half of the event, artists were encouraged to go and interact with each salon and spa, learn about their business structure and team goals and make those connections. This event is recommended for all artists regardless of how far into their program they are due to the fact that it is never too early to plan for your future and with Creative Images’ Partners in Education program, artists are given the opportunity to intern with salon and spa partners throughout their program to receive training hours outside of the classroom. The Networking Event gives those artists the opportunity to meet those salons in person and leave an impression on them not only as a potential intern but also as a potential employee. After an hour of networking and mingling, the event floor was transformed into a runway. During the runway show, artists were able to feature their design work on live models who strutted their way down the aisle, showcasing a new hairdo, makeup skills, and nail designs. While the models were on display, artists were given the opportunity to introduce their model and the inspiration behind their look and even the process they followed to achieve it! With nearly 50 participants, guests and observers were able to be fully submerged in the overwhelming creativity and passion of the artists hard at work. Following the runway show, prior to the event, artists were given the chance to compete in a design contest. With three different categories for judging: hair, nails, and makeup application; artists were encouraged to submit at least one design into the contest for the guests to judge. Each winner received a trophy and a gift bag from a supporting salon or spa. A huge shout out to these three amazing artists for their stunning creativity and congratulations for winning your category: Alisha Stone, Yvonne Hall, and Shanee Young! To conclude the event, artists had one last go round at networking and connecting with the local salons and spas and leaving a solid first impression. The beauty industry is a career field driven by dreams and desire. To be successful in this field, individuals need to learn to be outgoing and committed, to have a vision that they can strive for every day. Observing the artists as they approached beauty professionals who not only share the same passion as them but who have also achieved the same dreams; this event really helped light that fire within those artists. Creative Images is incredibly thrilled with the success of this event and cannot wait to follow each artist as they start towards their new journeys.

Coloring your hair is a very simple and fun way to change up your look. Some great examples of celebrities changing their looks with their hair just so happen to be sisters and they are Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. Earlier this year when Kim Kardashian colored her hair blonde, she got a lot of attention. It was surely a lot different from her naturally dark hair. Her younger sister, whose natural hair is dark brown, has also dyed her hair different shades of blue in the past. Kylie influenced a lot of people to attempt hair colors that aren’t as common. When you are trying to change up your hair, it is very important to think about a color that will best suit you and your style. Finding inspiration in celebrities is great for trying something new, but no two looks are going to be the same. Think of it as more of an inspiration than a duplication. Some of the most common colors for people to dye their hair is brown, black, and lightening their hair up to a blonde color. Brown If you have naturally dark hair, or really light hair, coloring your hair brown can be an easy way to change up your look. It can brighten your hair up if it is darker. This can lighten up your overall look if you want to slowly transition into lighter colors. Black Black is the most common color to dye your hair. This is a perfect way to subtly change up your look. It gives you a dark and sultry look, and will go perfectly with whatever style you love, and won’t interfere with your outfits, ever. Blonde Blonde is a great color for people who want a drastic change quickly. It is surely eye-catching and can be customized to your individual style. You can tone it and make it less brassy and more platinum or you can leave it the way that it is to give it a more natural appearance. When going blonde, it is also very easy to transition into other bright and bold colors that are very on trend now. Teal, Green, Blue These three colors have become increasingly popular in the media within the past year or so. The best way to try these bright and unusual colors is to leave your roots dark or to only color the bottom portions of your hair. Using hair extensions to temporarily change your hair color is a great way of testing out something before committing to it. There are hair extensions in any color that you could possibly think of, from the basic, brown, black, blondes, and reds, all the way to more extreme colors such as green, blue, teal, mint, purple, and pink. We all know that the colder weather wreaks havoc on our skin and nails, making our trendy nail colors and gorgeous eyeshadow look lackluster in the blustering winds. But did you know that the cold also isn’t good for your hair? Just because it is cold out, doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your good hair days. Luckily for you, we have some beauty advice on how to keep your hair healthy and shiny this winter! Add a scarf… to your hat?Obviously, the best way to keep your hair protected in the wintertime is to keep it out of the elements. But since no one wants to have hat hair, simply wrap your hair in a silk scarf, then put on your hat. This way the hat won’t rub against your hair and leave it one big staticky mess. Deep condition once a monthEven if it is not windy outside, simply stepping out into the cold air can sap the life out of your hair. But you can bring the luster and smoothness back by replenishing moisture and creating a temporary barrier in your hair that smooths down the cuticle. Invest in a humidifierThis may be one of the best beauty tips out there, as a humidifier not only will give you beautiful skin but hydrated and smooth hair as well. While you may be apprehensive to introduce humidity to your hair because it may cause frizziness, think again! Because the heat in your home will sap moisture out of hair quickly, the humidifier will keep your hair nice and balanced. Take care of your scalpYour scalp often goes ignored during the wintertime, and this is a no-no! To prevent dandruff, itchiness, and excessive hair loss, make sure to moisturize your scalp. This is easy to do with a simple olive oil mask — massage warmed up olive oil with a dash of lemon juice into your scalp once a week and you won’t itch again! Want to share your love of beauty with others? Consider attending beauty school — the place where beauty tips reign supreme and you can experiment all day, every day. Plus, there are 220,600 annual job openings created for hairdressers and cosmetologists every year, so there is no lack of job security in a career in cosmetology! Call us today to learn more.
Eyeliner is one of those things that are constantly changing with the times. It can bring so much light and definition into the eyes. Eyeliner can also be used to change the shape of your eyes. This is one of the most personalized parts of makeup. The way that it turns out is completely up to you such as how thick it is and how bold it will look. One of the most timeless looks are the ones listed below. www.ysislorenna.com/ Traditional Eyeliner Traditional eyeliner, also known as kohl eyeliner has been around for centuries. It is the easiest to put on, being that you only have to control the thickness of the eyeliner. When I first started to wear makeup it was the first way that I wore my eyeliner. It can be achieved with any type of eyeliner such as a pencil eyeliner, gel eyeliner, and liquid eyeliner. www.makeupgeek.com Winged Eyeliner Winged eyeliner is one of those things that take the time to learn how to do. Trying to perfect this particular style of eyeliner is a trial and error sort of thing. This within itself is an individualized process. The way that your winged eyeliner turns out in accordance with thickness and the angle of your wing is completely up to you. This look can be achieved with any type of eyeliner. However, I think pencil is the hardest to use so I suggest gel, cake or liquid eyeliner. thestylelookbook.com Double-Winged Eyeliner Double-winged eyeliner is quickly becoming an it thing. It brings out the inner fairy with the fairy-like appearance. Winged eyeliner is a little it easier than traditional winged eyeliner due to the fact that if you go a little too high on the first one, the second one can even out the whole look. This look can be achieved with the same things as for traditional eyeliner such as the gel, cake, or liquid eyeliners. If you are interested in wearing hair extensions, then there are plenty of things you can choose from. There are weft extensions that you can glue in, sew in or use as clip ins. There is also tape in hair extensions and ponytails that you can use to extend the length and thickness of your own ponytail. Whatever you decide to choose, there are a few things that you should consider before choosing a hair extension method. via GIPHY First there are clip in extensions. These are a great way o try out hair extensions without having to commit to them. Clip in extensions come pre-made, or you can also purchase regular wefts to create and customize your own. You part your hair from ear to ear and tie up the top part, then clip in the extensions to the hair on the bottom. A fun way to wear clip in extensions is to include them into your up do’s and buns. You can easily achieve this by clipping them in upside down so they don’t appear bulky and fake. Clip-ins can last as long as you want them to if you properly care for them. via GIPHY Next, there are glue-in, pre-bonded or keratin bonded hair extensions. These extensions are attached to your hair through keratin bonds at the tip of the extension and are fused with a hot tool. These are a very popular choice for those looking to try hair extensions. These are very popular, but require a little more maintenance and salon appointments. If you want to glue in your extensions, then part your hair as you would for clipping in extensions. Apply a little bit of glue to the weft and press it into your scalp to adhere it to your head. Make sure you don’t get it on your real hair. If you are in a hurry, or would like to move faster, then take your blow dryer and on a low heat low blow setting dry where you applied the weft. One of the most popular methods for hair extensions is the sew in. Sew in extensions are best for those who have coarse, thick or curly hair. Your natural hair is sewn into a tightly braided section and then the extensions are sewn into the tightly braided section. This can last for about 6-8 weeks and is a great method for a protective style, or to try a hairstyle that you don’t want to commit to permanently. Hello Amanda The last method for hair extensions is tape extensions. They are definitely not as popular as the other methods but is still very easy to use. If they are properly applied, then they will definitely look well and last. The hair is connected by bonds that your own hair is placed between. Your hair is then clamped around the strands. They last for a decent amount of time, but if your natural hair grows out very fast, then you will have to get them redone more frequently. Here is a tutorial by Perfect Hair (a little outdated, but still great!) that explains a little more about tape extensions and how they are put in. Hair extensions are a great way to wear your hair if you are need of some inspiration. They are a change to your hair that you don’t have to commit to and you can protect your hair while you experiment. Depending on your hair type and needs, there is definitely a method of hair extensions for you.
