Creative Images Institute of Cosmetology (CIIC), with two locations in the Dayton area, is one of only 18 institutions in the world which offers advanced hands-on training in precision haircutting and coloring the Sassoon way. For nearly 30 years, CIIC has provided advanced training, educational field trips, and partnerships with Ohio salons/spas, as part of their mission to assist students in finding their career fit. One of the educational fieldtrips CIIC partakes in annually is to the nation’s largest beauty exhibit, America’s Beauty Show (ABS) in Chicago. With more than 115 students and staff in attendance for this event, they were able to be fully submerged into the beauty careers culture between nails, hair, and skin care events, as well as live runway shows and individualized learning workshops.
Arriving Saturday evening, students had all day Sunday and Monday to explore every avenue and vendor at the show and take in all of the different products, techniques, and performances. On Monday, CIIC had a special meeting with celebrity guest, Philip Wolff, one of Matrix’s greatest hair design moguls, honing in on the latest industry tip and techniques. Philip travels the country as he helps hair artists conquer and master their own technique between cutting, coloring, and styling. He has devoted his professional life to achieving excellence through being a successful business owner, a recognized hair designer, and educator which is in-line with the goals and passions of CIIC’s students. The information and tips the students received from Philip doesn’t just transcend into the realm of beauty but it can also be applied to owners and businesses of all facets. This event provided them the opportunity to ask any questions and get face-to-face feedback from a professional. CIIC students gained the exposure that very few individuals have the chance of experiencing to help them change their lives through the many careers associated with beauty.
