Beauty Trends We Can Expect to See More of in 2022
We’ve all heard the saying, “New year, new me”, right? Well, on a similar note, in this article, we’re going to be talking about the new beauty trends we can expect to see taking the stage in 2022. “New year, new trends”, type of ordeal. As we know, trends dissipate out just as quickly as they showed up and oftentimes, it can be a tricky ground to navigate. Just as soon as you hop on the bandwagon for a new product, a new jean fit, or even a new restaurant, the hype and cultural acceptance has begun to dwindle, leaving you chasing the next temporary fad. Beauty products and manufactures are no exception. Lucky for you, we’ve generated a list of some of this year’s “hot” products and trends to help get you a head of the curve or dare we even say, leading the curve? Keep reading to see how trendy you may already be without even knowing it.
1.) Y2k Aesthetic
For those of you Gen Z’ers, Y2k was a pivotal time in the fashion and beauty world. With the start of the new millennium, people weren’t afraid to stand out. By this, I mean that a lot of fashion goers honed in on “sparkling”. Whether that was their jewelry, a hair accessory, or even their makeup, people liked products that created a bit of shine– something to grab attention. The overall theme of Y2k was to stand out and this included doing things outside of just accessorizing with some bling bling. Try giving your bangs an retro fringe or wearing a blue sparkly eyeshadow to really make your eyes pop. By wearing bright, glittery makeup or jewelry in addition to taking your closet down Retro Road, you’ll be able to pull of the Y2k look in no time!
2.) Eco- Friendly Packaging
In addition to more organic, natural products hitting the market, one of the more noticable changes are that companies are using more biodegradable and sustainable packaging for their products. Consumers are calling for more environmentally responsible products and beauty brands are listening! Even though this new Earth friendly packaging seems to take more time in manufacturing, consumers are paying more for it. In addition to making cosmetics that don’t include micro plastics (yuck!), the makeup companies are taking it a step further and looking for ways so that the packaging itself doesn’t become garbage. Because of their efforts, less trees are being cut down thanks to the implementation of sugar cane paper and more and more companies are using packaging that naturally decomposed within 3 months. On top of that, some brands are taking their efforts the extra mile by using soy ink. Along with the sugar cane paper, some other decomposable materials that are finding their way into the packaging game also include mushrooms, seaweed, and corn. As the years change, we predict that more and more manufactures will start to convert to healthy and happy packaging as new solutions become available and at a more financial gain.
3.) Show Some Skin
Over the past few years, contour and highlighting has been the trend of the town. Not anymore, babes! The masks enforcements that have become the new norm going on two years no, have really started taking its toll on our skin. Germs and bacteria from our breath, fine dust particles, dry skin, and dried out makeup that gets trapped under our masks are the reasons why healthy skin are the new trend to top in 2022. Instead of caking on the foundation, contour, and concealer, try putting your best fresh face forward. In addition to wearing less overall makeup, make sure the skin care products your putting on your face are actually helping you more than hurting you, strengthening your skin barrier. Products that contain ceramide, panthenol, and cica care are all known for adding some protective layers to your skin to help keep all of the mask contaminants from actually penetrating into our skin.
4.) At-Home Beauty Devices
Last but certainly not least are at-home beauty devices. Now, this goes past a simple face mask or bath bomb. We’re talking about actual devices that give you next to the same effect as going to a spa or esthetician. Using these devices can improve skin care elasticity, brighten your complexion, reduce your pores, and calm your skin. Granted, these professional devices aren’t supposed to replace your scheduled visits with your esthetician, but instead help keep your skin healthy in between visits and maybe even prolong the time in between.
